Why maintain your health That may seem like a silly question

Why maintain your health? That may seem like a silly question. (Hopefully it does seem like a silly question, really!) But with that said, even though we know we should maintain our health, we come up with reasons not to. So a better question might be: why DON’T we maintain our health?

There are a lot of reasons people fail to care for their health. Examples include depression, feeling “busy” all the time, or just forgetting. Regardless of how legitimate the “excuse” is that you are not maintaining your health in one way or another, it’s time you are reminded of why you should be doing so!

There are many ways to maintain your health and each one has special benefits. One thing you need to do is eat healthy foods, and avoid foods you know you should not be consuming. The benefits are obvious: you lose weight, you feel better, and you have more overall energy to get the things done in your life that you've wanted to accomplish. Perhaps one of those things IS losing weight!

Another way to maintain you health is to exercise regularly. You should challenge yourself, too. Don't just exercise the same amount; keep upping the ante! Each time you reach a plateau in your weight loss or toning, increase the number of reps you are doing, the frequency of how often you work out, or add a new type of exercise to your regimen.

Exercise results in, again, increased energy, more will power, and a feeling of confidence and power that you never had before!

Another way for one to maintain his or her health is to have good hygiene. Brush regularly, floss, and keep your body clean. Maybe you’re already doing that. Don't forget that things like smoking and drinking deteriorate a lot of things in your life, too, so avoid those if you can.

Finally, remember that maintaining your emotional, mental and spiritual health is just as, if not more, important than physical health! Besides, they AFFECT your physical health more than you might realize! There are clinical studies to prove it!

You can lay the foundation for good emotional health by practicing healthy relationship skills, keeping a positive attitude, serving others, etc. The Bible, especially the book of Proverbs, is full of guidelines to help you improve your relationships and emotional health. Don't neglect this important part of your life.

The Bible should also be your resource for spiritual health. The Bible contains everything you need to know about yourself, God, and how to have a relationship with God and with others. It is truly the manual for life.

You know, these are common sense things, so why read or write about it? Sometimes we need someone to just come through and remind us of the obvious. Even the obvious can slip away into oblivion when we don’t stay sharp and keep ourselves in check. Maintain your health! It will enrich you!
